Meet Our Staff

Kerry Kerry has been caring for animals as far back as she can remember. As a child, a good part of her day consisted of seeking out injured or orphaned animals. Although, her parents frowned at the occasional wild house guest, they encouraged her to pursue her heart’s desire.

Her first pet and teacher was Pyewacket, a Siamese, who taught Kerry love, devotion, patience and compassion. In his twilight, Pyewacket welcomed kittens and ferrets into his home and led Kerry to a job in Veterinary medicine.

Her pursuit of “How can I help Pye” brought her to a local animal hospital, where she worked as a veterinary technician for seven years. During that time, she cared for countless feral and domestic cats, dogs, exotics and several species of wildlife. She found she enjoyed rehabilitating wildlife and raising young squirrels, fledgling birds and kittens.

Kerry found her passion was helping the helpless. When others dismissed injured or physically disabled animals, Kerry made it her mission to find an alternative. She held fund-raisers for cats in need: locating a prosthesis manufacturer in California to build kitty-walkers for two cats, BeeBop & Tumblina, with cerebellar hypoplasia (see New York Times, Journal News and Catnip articles) and locating a surgeon in New Jersey to perform a pulmonary artery banding on a cat, Spikealicious, with a severe ventricular septal defect, given months to live.

Volunteering has become a big part of her life: she participated in a trial therapy program at F.E.G.S., a day care facility for mentally-challenged adults with two cerebellar hypoplasia kitties, BeeBop and Tumblina; she accompanied a local veterinarian to Ground Zero to examine and treat rescue and recovery dogs; she has fostered and placed countless cats and kittens; and more recently began trapping feral and friendly strays for Pet Rescue in Larchmont, New York.

Discovering pet-sitting, by chance, in 1996, Kerry began caring for pets in private homes. Soon she found herself living her dream: caring for animals in a one on one setting. “The intimate bonds developed through these relationships are never forgotten. Each animal, each experience leaves me with a precious memory. I love the time I spend with all my animal friends and look forward to each visit with them. I see each client’s pet as an extension of my pet family.” (Kerry A. See, R.P.P.S. owner) In January of 2003, Kerry began devoting more time to her clients and by December of 2003 Ruffly Purrfect Pet Services had been created.

Recently, Kerry obtained certification as a Usui Master Reiki practitioner. “My goal is to share Reiki with the animals that enter my life. I will continue to study Reiki so that I can offer all that Reiki has to offer.” (Kerry A. See)

Kerry shares her home with two rambunctious ferrets (the last of nine): Dori and Pinot and seven remarkable kitties: Stevie-Ray, an asthmatic and a true miracle; Spikealicious, a pulmonary artery banding success story; BeeBop a c.h. fighter; Tumblina, an epileptic and c.h. inspiration; Dizzy, another c.h. fighter; Tucker, an abandoned kitty and recently, Roary Roo, a rescued stray.

Barbara Barbara is a Licensed Master Social Worker who worked for 23 years for the Children’s Service Division of the Westchester County Department of Social Services. She currently works part time as an independent contractor completing adoption home studies and post placement follow-ups.

Barbara joined Ruffly Purrfect in March of 2006;she has been pet sitting since 2002. Her deep love for animals was nurtured by her father. He introduced animals into her life as a young child: frequenting the ASPCA, Bide-a-Wee shelters and the Central Park Zoo and the park’s many squirrels.

There is nothing she would rather do then be surrounded by animals: giving them belly rubs and love. Barbara acknowledges her daughter, Fawn, named after Barbara’s love of animals, for re-introducing animals into her life by acquiring the first family dog “Jackson”. Barbara now enjoys life with her mischievous 5 pound, 4-year-old dog “Ducky”. She recently began volunteering for Pet Rescue, Larchmont New York. She has fostered several doggies all of whom found loving homes.

Bobby ASPCA Fire Fighter of the Year Bobby Fumarelli served in the U.S. Marine Corps for eight years before becoming a New York firefighter. Following the Marines, he joined Rescue Company Number One of the Yonkers Fire Department. His has been a life of duty, sacrifice and concern for others. From 9/11/01 and the days that followed where he gave his all to the rescue efforts to most recently, when he took himself from the relative calm of New York and called the ASPCA to volunteer in Hurricane Katrina rescue efforts, Bobby Fumarelli has put service to others before his own well being. Fumarelli, who intended to stay about a week in New Orleans and quickly extended his stay to two, was involved in the rescue of as many as dozens of animals a day. He worked with specific animal rescues and the general rebuilding of shelter facilities
